[TAB:Gemstone Lore - The Larimar]

Larimar

The Larimar is also known in healing stone lore as the Atlantis Stone. Its only occurrence in its blue colors to this day is the Dominican Republic.
According to legend, the Larimar is said to be connected to the sunken paradise. The Larimar is believed to be the only remaining testament to the fabled island of Atlantis.
The Larimar stands as a symbol of boundlessness. Its colors are those of the endless sky and the vast sea. It has been worn since early history as a protective stone against evil spirits, natural disasters, and diseases. This stone is said to have many effects, including that the Larimar is supposed to open new ways of thinking and acting and serve self-realization.
Due to its high calcium content, it is also said to have a strengthening effect on bones and growth. The Larimar is a very popular and attractive gemstone, which is used for necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pendants, and bracelets. It is very valuable, as it has become almost depleted and thus very rare.

The chemical formula of Larimar: Ca2Na [OH/Si3O8] + Fe, Mn
