The Origin of Shungite

dates back 2 to 2.2 billion years. It is believed that Shungite has always been used by the people of Karelia for healing purposes. The first historical records date back to the late 16th century.

Composition of Shungite:

Carbon is the basis of all life on Earth. In every living creature, it has the largest proportion by weight after oxygen bound in water, because living tissue is built from organic carbon compounds.
The three best-known forms of pure carbon are diamond, graphite, and fullerenes.
Russian scientists are constantly researching the special properties of Shungite.
To demonstrate the effect of natural "Martial water," they prepare it in their laboratories by extracting larger quantities of C-60 fullerene from Elite Shungite using a special process and adding it to water. The water enriched with Shungite fullerenes is called a molecular-colloidal solution. This is a term from colloid chemistry and describes the finest particles in a liquid.
When we place Shungite in water, fullerenes can also dissolve from the stone, thereby enriching / energizing our water.

The Known Categories of Shungite

Elite Shungite (Category I)

This gemstone contains up to 98% carbon. This means it has a high concentration of fullerenes. It is black with a silvery, lustrous surface. When fractured, it shows a conchoidal fracture, and some stones show fine inclusions of iron sulfate, also known as jarosite. A silvery sheen might suggest that it is a crystalline stone, but this is misleading. This Shungite, like all others, is amorphous, meaning its molecules do not arrange themselves in a crystalline form. In its natural occurrence, it is the rarest Shungite, with a proportion of no more than 1%, and is usually not offered in its raw form.

Black Shungite (Category II)

The Shungite from this category is black and can be easily ground and polished. It has a carbon content of 50-70%. Commercially available objects such as pyramids, spheres, cubes, plates, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, tumbled stones, massage wands, cups, bowls, cushions, bandages, belts, Pharaoh rods, as well as hearts and Pi discs are made from this black Shungite.

Gray Shungite (Category III)

It contains 30-50% carbon and has a gray or brownish color. It is rarely used as a healing stone and plays no significant role in trade.
